Carver H-9AV Sonic Hologram Generator * Fully Serviced
The Carver H-9AV is a vintage audio/video "Sonic Hologram Generator" released by Bob Carver in the late 1980s. It is an outboard processor designed to enhance stereo sound by widening the soundstage and creating a deeply immersive, three-dimensional audio experience.
Key Features & Functions
- Sonic Holography: The core technology cancels out acoustic crosstalk (the sound from the left speaker reaching your right ear, and vice versa) by sending an inverted delay signal to the opposite ear. This tricks your brain into hearing instruments and vocals as if they are placed all around the room, mimicking a live performance.
- A/V Integrations: Unlike older models (like the C-9), the H-9AV was tailored to early home theater setups. It featured experimental line-level rear ( L-R) and center ( L+R ) outputs to extract surround effects and center-channel vocals for 3-channel or 4-channel surround sound.
- Setup: It is designed to be inserted into a preamplifier's processor loop or tape monitor loop so you can toggle the holography effect on and off.
